Addiction is a complex and chronic disease. Although not officially designated as a disease by the American Medical Association until 1987, addiction has been more widely studied and understood since that time. The National Institute on Drug Abuse defines drug abuse as a chronic, relapsing disorder characterized by compulsive drug seeking and use, despite harmful consequences and long-lasting changes in the brain. It is the changes in the brain and its pathways that result in the biological, psychological, social, and spiritual manifestations seen in those suffering from addiction. Addiction treatment has to address all of these manifestations to be successful; it must also treat any co-occurring disorders. Effective treatment for addiction should also take a holistic approach and acknowledge the risk of relapse to achieve the most success. Our Orange County drug & alcohol rehab staff understand how addiction changes you. Our treatment services are created to enable you to break free of your addictions and thrive in sobriety.
As you explore the options for treatment, you will hear a lot of new terminologies, and it can be confusing. Our increased understanding of addiction has led to more options for treatment, and that is a good thing. Addiction treatment options include inpatient residential, partial hospitalization, intensive outpatient, traditional outpatient, peer support recovery groups, and more. Many programs begin with higher levels of treatment and move down the spectrum as the client feels more comfortable and confident in their recovery skills.
Life Vessel Treatment Recovery Centers in Orange County provides you with the opportunity to focus solely on getting sober, rediscovering yourself, and building a life in recovery. Addiction can take you so far down the rabbit hole that you can barely see the hand reaching to pull you out. Our inpatient treatment allows you the space to grab the hand and get pulled out. As the name suggests, inpatient residential treatment is addiction treatment that requires you to reside at the treatment facility for the duration of the program. This type of treatment provides round-the-clock care and a peer community that is also traveling on the road to recovery.
Beyond inpatient treatment, other treatment options provide treatment while you reside in your own home or a sober living facility. Partial hospitalization programs (PHP) typically offer treatment several hours a day for several days each week. It can be thought of much like reporting to work or school. Intensive outpatient programs (IOP) are similar to partial hospitalization programs but are for fewer hours each day and potentially fewer days each week. Both partial hospitalization and intensive outpatient programs offer much of the therapies that are available through inpatient residential programs. However, with less time available for your treatment, the offerings will be scaled down. Traditional outpatient counseling is considered to be the least effective unless it is paired with a higher level of treatment and used as aftercare rather than a starting point. Finally, peer support recovery groups can be an essential part of the treatment of any level and as a part of your relapse prevention plan following drug treatment.

Life Vessel Treatment and Recovery Centers offer a wide range of care to help you dig in and do the work of recovery. However, before you begin any therapy, the first step is to detox from the drugs. You have to free your body from the toxins so that the mind can begin the journey into sobriety. Detoxing and getting sober are hard work, but we will be here to support you every step of the way. Following detox, you’ll begin the work of recovery. You’ll participate in process groups, individual therapy, and other evidence-based clinical interventions. Our treatment team employs a wide range of evidence-based therapy to explore and treat your addiction and any other co-occurring disorders. We understand that many who find themselves struggling with addiction may have a history of trauma, depression, anxiety, or other co-occurring disorders. We will work with you to create a treatment plan that meets you where you’re at and supports you as you grow through your recovery.
The importance of therapy in addiction treatment cannot be underestimated. At Life Vessel Treatment and Recovery Centers we incorporate cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT), dialectical behavioral therapy (DBT), motivational interviewing, exposure therapy, eye movement desensitization, and reprocessing (EMDR), and more. By mixing cognitive and dialectical behavioral therapies, we provide you with the opportunity to examine your present thought patterns, challenge them, and create new ones. Eye movement desensitization and reprocessing (EMDR) therapy has proven instrumental in treating trauma and other adverse experiences. EMDR is effective for both memories that are known and those that cannot be recovered and has been shown to be more gentle than other methods for dealing with trauma. We will blend these therapies to create an individualized treatment plan at our Orange County addiction treatment programs.
At Life Vessel Treatment and Recovery Centers, we’re not here to help you just get sober and survive sobriety. We provide you with a peer community, therapies, and activities to enable you to thrive in your recovery. In addition to offering evidence-based therapy, we understand that everyone’s journey into and out of addiction is unique. We will see you for the individual you are, and we’ll help you craft a path that serves you in a way that creates a whole life in recovery. Viewing you holistically, we understand that you are a person who suffers from addiction, but your addiction is not your identity. We’re here to help you build a recovery toolkit that enables you to rediscover yourself and discover what life without drugs looks like for you. In addition to therapy, you will also learn how yoga, breathwork, meditation, and movement can serve you as coping mechanisms in recovery. We’ll also explore aquatic therapy, hold meetings at the ocean, watch movies, and hop in a go-kart to remind us all that life without drugs is fun.
We also understand that your recovery program does not have an end, and we equip you with the tools to live in your recovery after treatment. Whether you visit our detox center, inpatient treatment, or both, we will help you clear the drugs from your body and start on the road to recovery.
Once you’ve decided to get sober, your next step is deciding how and where to get sober.
